About Me:
I'm a Software Engineer/SDET who is passionate about making quality products that aim to deliver the best client experience. Software Engineering, Web Development, and Game Development are my biggest passions. You can click here to view my Resume.
Career Goals
My desire is to join a team of passionate Software Engineers or Game Developers looking to create a product/service with a massive wide-reaching impact on people. I want to know that my contributions help people improve their lives, whether that means by giving them a break from the difficulties of everyday life, or giving them something to laugh about.
As long as my products help others, that's a win in my book.
Skills and Tools
General Knowledge:
- Jira
- Bitbucket
- Confluence
- Terminal/Command Prompt
- Unity
Working in a corporate environment has taught me a lot about standard development practices, and the tools used to make everything happen. Tracking tickets in Jira, using Bitbucket or GitHub for version control, and Confluence to maintain documentation. Every service/application is a small piece of a much larger whole that help us to create the best products that we can. I'm also most familiar with Unity, as that's the game engine I use to develop small games in my free time.
Software Development and Languages:
- Espresso
- XCUI
- C#
- Python
- Git
As an SDET, I have becomed accustomed to doing automation work for both Android and iOS platforms using both Espresso and XCUI respectively. CI/CD is very important to deliver quality work in a timely fashion, but without proper automation the quality of the work can dip substantially. I utilize C# to assist with API automation, without which making changes to APIs and their responses would likely go unnoticed and contain many issues.
Web Development:
- HTML
- CSS
- JavaScript
- Some PHP
This website has been the driving project for me to learn how to use various Web Development technologies. To develop a firm understanding of the basics, I wanted to build the best website I could using raw HTML and CSS. This website is currently about 99% raw HTML/CSS, containing only two JavaScript functions. Other websites I'm developing will use more advances technologies as I learn more about them, and as I learn new frameworks and technologies I will periodically update this site.
Frameworks:
- Gherkin
- React.js
- SQLite
Writing quality Gherkin is difficult. Learning and keeping the mindset of building out scenarios as requirements rather than as 'test cases' is tough, but essential. Over my SDET Career I have learned many best Gherkin practices, and actively inform and review others' Gherkin to make sure they are being written in a way that is optimal for long-term scalability and resiliency. Learning React.js and SQLite is an ongoing effort in an attempt to broaden my web development horizons and grow my chops as a developer.
